Paid Internship Sites

To assist students who are studying school psychology with finding appropriate field sites, the Washington State Association of School Psychologists surveyed our members about school district practicum and internship field sites. WSASP does not verify each member's survey input and highly recommends checking the individual district's website and to seek additional information from individual districts if there are questions about any of this information. We appreciate feedback if inaccurate information is identified in our list.

This data is from our January 2017 survey.

Results from this survey include:

School District Compensation? Type of compensation Additional details:
Battle Ground School District (Area 7) Yes Interns are paid as full-time classified staff without benefits Interns often have the opportunity to become emergency certified, typically in January. Emergency certified interns would receive salary as a full time school psychologist with full benefits.
Bethel School District (Area 9) Yes I believe it is $16-18/hour Interns report a great experience with excellent support from field supervisors.
Blaine School District (Area 3) Depends on assignment Our intern was paid as a full-time Psychologist as base level. Because this intern was paid a full salary, he was expected to work a full caseload. He could have benefited by receiving more support, however the other School Psychologists were too busy with their own caseloads.
Central Kitsap School District (Area 4) Yes Interns are paid as full-time classified staff with benefits This year we have two interns.  Both started out as interns paid on a stipend and have transitioned to emergency certificated school psychologists as they've felt comfortable taking on the added responsibility.  They are now being paid as full time psychologists with benefits. If this happens the intern will get paid as a certificated employee on the salary step that matches their degree and credits earned. Also, benefits are offered and the 15 extra psych days are prorated.
