Diversity Scholarship Applications due October 1st WSASP is aware of the need for a more aggressive approach to relieve financial pressures faced by students of diverse backgrounds pursuing careers in school psychology. The WSASP Diversity Scholarship Program was established to address this need in our state’s training programs. To help foster and encourage diversity in the profession, the program will grant awards on an annual basis to at least one qualified graduate student of school psychology in the state of Washington. This year, WSASP has much more money to distribute to our graduate students. To be considered for the award, the entire application, including 2 recommendations from faculty, MUST be received by WSASP by Oct 1, 2022 two weeks prior to Fall conference. Click here to apply! Future Fall Conferences: | We are proud to announce the WSASP 2022 Fall Conference, Oct 13-15 at the Sea Tac Marriott! Thank you to all who attended the 2022 Fall Conference! ____________ This year instead of our usual 20-24 presentations, we are offering over 40 presentations! In addition to these 90-minute sessions, we will be offering over a dozen 3-hour workshops! Some presentations will be offered in-person, some will be live time remote, and a few will even be hybrid. You will have a choice of attending the conference in person or virtually (although only a limited number of talks will be offered virtually). You’ve come to expect quality professional development that spans a diverse range of topics from WSASP and this year will be no exception! We have nationally recognized speakers from Maine, Illinois, Florida, Connecticut, Colorado and Oregon. We have speakers from universities, school districts, private consultation firms, publisher sponsored, various agencies, as well as from our own state department, OSPI. Most importantly, we have many presentations that would benefit the counselors and administrators you work with at your schools. So many in fact, that we have a special registration category for non-psychologists. Please share this conference and its offerings with the counselor(s) and principal/admin in your buildings. For example, we have a talk by Rachel-Brown-Chidsey of the University of Maine entitled, “In This Together: How School Psychologists Can Collaborate with Principals to Improve Student Learning Outcomes.” You may even consider inviting your principal to join you either in person or remotely to watch this presentation. This presentation along with some other collaborative talks, will be presented through hybrid delivery, making it easier for administrators and counselors to attend. We look forward to seeing you! -------------- Clock Hours 19 Clock hours will be available for participants.
