Tele-Assessment provides advantages, but it is also fraught with potential pitfalls.  With more assessments being delivered online, school psychologists need to understand the pros and cons and how to ensure validity and reliability. 

This session will discuss:

  • An overview of technology considerations 

  • Using Non-Instructional Staff to Support Tele-assessment

  • Utilizing current assessments and adapting for online use

  • Teleconsultation - observing the student

  • Current research base

During these unprecedented times, face to face testing is being questioned due the safety concerns to the evaluator and student. This session will examine the use of remote assessment and provide considerations to guide the decision-making process as to whether remote assessment is appropriate for a particular evaluation. Topics include examiner considerations, legal/ethical considerations, examinee selection, informed consent, screening for appropriateness of remote administration, and technology requirements. Practical guidance, including a free tips guide, will be shared to lead examiners through deciding how and when to implement remote assessment and documentation of their decision.
